Week 16 & 17: Fit Pregnancy Update

            Week 16                                                       Week 17                                    Week 16 Pregnancy #1

Week 16 & 17

Wow!! Only three weeks away from the halfway mark. People weren’t kidding when they say the second pregnancy will go by  much more quickly than the first. The combination of chasing around a little 20 pound busy body and trying to wrap things up for our move next week has the days flying by and me forgetting I’m pregnant half the time.

Today’s Date: 12/5/16
How many weeks are you: 17
What trimester are you in: Second
How big is the baby: About the size of a Turnip
Weight Gain: 3 pounds
Food Cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Food Aversions: None
Gender: Unknown
Prediction: Boy
Diet: Staying pretty consistent with 3 meals and 2-3 small snacks. My favorite snacks this week have been RX Bars and LaraBars. They are all natural and not loaded with fillers that seem to bother my stomach.
Weekly splurge: Sushi over the weekend (all cooked fish) 22 pieces in one sitting cured that craving quick! oops.
Exercise: Managing 4 days a week right now. Workouts include a lot of high intensity interval training to maximize the time I am able to workout. Four days of weight training circuits and two days of 20-30 minutes of cardio such as sprints on the treadmill, stair climber or exercise bike at the end of my workout. I also incorporate a lot of burpee variations. Its a love/hate relationship.
Aches and Pains: A lot more than my first pregnancy. Lower back and hip pain are the most common annoyances. Staying active helps tremendously.
Have you felt the baby move: Little butterfly tickles but nothing strong or consistent yet.
Labor signs: None
Maternity clothes: None yet but getting close
Sleep/Dreams: Waking up 2-3 times a night to use the restroom and starting to get uncomfortable. No crazy dreams this week.
Favorite moment of the week: Finding out our dream house will be wrapping up escrow in a week!
Looking forward to: Moving into our new house and finding out the gender of the baby.
Differences from pregnancy #1: By weeks 16 & 17 in my first pregnancy:

-My belly was much more noticeable

-I did not experience any aches and pains this early in pregnancy

-The fatigue had subsided by this time.

-I had a lot more cravings such as pickles, green olives and anything with a lot of salt. This pregnancy sweets get the best of me.
