Week 31: Fit Pregnancy Update

Week 31: Fit Pregnancy Update Week 31

The weeks are really flying by now! At first, I had wished things would slow down a little. I did not feel prepared to share time with my first born and nothing has been done to get ready for the babies arrival. However, as this pregnancy progresses and the uncomfortableness sets in more and more, I definitely do not mind time going by faster.

Workouts and eating are becoming a huge struggle. The pain I feel in my lower abdomen and pelvis is unbearable at times making exercising as much as I would like almost impossible. I have been wearing my Belly Bandit Belly Boost support band for extra support throughout the day and I notice a huge difference in pain when I don’t wear it. During my workouts, I use the Bao Bei Speedbump support band and this also helps provide the extra support needed to alleviate some of the pain and pressure.

Lack of quality exercise has not helped with fatigue or mood and nausea has made nothing sound appetizing to eat. I just keep reminding myself that we are in the home stretch now and this little girl will be here before we know it! Here is one of the workouts I did this week.

Quick 30 Minute Prenatal workout

Todays Date: 03/014/2017

How many weeks are you: 31

What trimester are you in: THIRD!! YAY!

How big is the baby: Size of a Coconut

Weight Gain: 18 pounds, the weight gain is definitely getting more rapid!

Food Cravings: Still Cereal

Food Aversions: A lot of food aversions lately, eating is already becoming a huge struggle. The only thing that sounds good is carbs.

Gender: GIRL!!!

Diet: There was not much consistency in my diet this week. I still followed the meal plan below however skipped a couple meals here and there and replaced them with snacks or cereal.

Breakfast:

Small piece of toast with peanut butter right when I wake up

A few hours later is usually:

1 egg & 6 egg whites with avocado

OR

Protein Shake with Banana and Peanut Butter

Lunch:

Chicken breast

Vegetable like butternut  squash

A few almonds or avocado

Dinner:

A protein and a huge salad or other vegetable.

My go to has been butternut squash with coconut oil and salt.

Snacks:

Lara Bars

Protein Shake with banana

Carrots or Pop Chips and Hummus

Pistachios or almonds

Popcorn (I love the black pepper Skinny Pop popcorn)

Cereal-Rice Krispies, Chex, Cinnamon Life

Rice Cakes with peanut butter and honey

Weekly splurge:  I made homemade peanut butter cups for my husband and of course, I had to eat one. They were delicious!

Exercise: Working out was challenging again this week from the pain I have had. I still managed to get in four days but the quality was not what I would have liked. Im adding more cardio these days and higher rep weight lifting sets. I love the spin bike and stair climber because I do experience any pain and I can continue doing interval training. When short on time or energy, I still try to get 15 minutes in. Check this post, 15-Minutes to a Better Mom Bod! The Benefits of Just 15-Minute Workouts, for the benefits of quick workouts and ideas when short on time.

15-Min to a better mom body

Aches and Pains: Pelvic and stomach pain.

Have you felt the baby move: Yes, some days more than others.

Labor signs: A lot of Braxton Hicks that are becoming painful at times.

Maternity clothes: Still not many maternity clothes. I am in an awkward stage of maternity clothes not fitting well but regular clothes not being comfortable either.

Sleep/Dreams: Sleep is still horrible. Most nights this week I saw every hour on the clock.

Favorite moment of the week: My husband threw me a surprise birthday party and it was a lot of fun!

Looking forward to: Celebrating my husbands birthday which happens to be on Saint Patrick’s Day.

Differences from Pregnancy #1: I never had pain with my first pregnancy however this time around has been extremely painful. Chasing around a busy 18 month old who is going through a phase where she wants mama to hold her all the time does not help!

  1. Hi Brooke, I just discovered your blog via Pinterest and I’m eager to follow your journey.

I’m 24 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. I have a 3.5 yr old boy, 1.5 yr old boy and baby # 3 is a girl due July 21st.

I’m a group fitness instructor and pride myself on working out smart and hard. This pregnancy has been so different and much harder than my other 2… and once I could eat all I wanted was carbs, sugar and lemons. So for about 8 weeks or so- that’s what I ate… now that my nausea has subsided and I can handle protein again- I’m starting to make better and more balanced food choices. Here is my biggest struggle decides being tested for ICP (liver disease) is tharcI’ve already put on over 20lbs (I stopped weighing myself bc it was emotionally affecting me too much) and I’m pretty bummed but would never do anything to jeopardize babies health and growth… all that to say- I look forward to following you and I hope it encourages me to continue to make smart food choices as I gear up for the remainder of pregnancy

    1. Hi Giovanna! First of all, I truly apologize for the delayed response. There was a setting wrong on my website and all comments were going to a spam folder of which I did not know about!

Congratulations on your third pregnancy! You are a busy mama. Hearing that you are staying active and trying to eat healthy despite the challenges you face with your health is very inspiring! My first pregnancy, I gained about 15 pounds just in the first trimester and it was so hard on me! I ate healthy and worked out however my body just wanted to hold onto everything. I really struggled with how quickly I gained weight and cried every doctor appointment! Making healthy food choices during pregnancy is so hard because of all the aversions and cravings but it sounds like you are very motivated to maintain a healthy pregnancy and that is the most important thing! Whenever I struggle with negative feelings about the weight gain, I try to remind myself that pregnancy is temporary and we have the rest of our lives to get back to where we want to be =) I wish you the best during the second half of your pregnancy!
